Behind the OGC

What is the OGC?
The
OGC stands for the Old Glory Classic. The OGC is a
celebration of Active Duty and Retired Military. Fort Drum is a vital part of the North
Country and those who serve should be at the forefront of our thoughts especially
the week of Flag Day, June 14th. NBC Watertown enjoys doing our part for the
importance of our Military. Even though
the OGC takes place on a golf course, playing golf, that is not the forefront
of what the OGC means to us. The OGC brings
active and retired military to an event to honor and show how much they are
truly valued and appreciated.
Each year we partner with the Local Wounded Warrior project who share with us a Wounded Warrior speaker to share their story. Last year, Sal Gonzalez graced us with his presence and shared his amazing journey. Starting with where he came from. Sal came from a family of immigrants which inspired him to join the military; “I wanted to give back for all this country has given us.”
Sal has used music to persevere through the hardships in his life. You can watch Sal perform his song “Find Solance” below.
We would like to thank each golfer, sponsor, volunteer and anyone else who helps spread the word of the OGC.
This year during OGC, we will be LIVE Streaming Hole 6 from Carlowden Country Club to see if any lucky golfers get a hole in one! Check out the live stream on our home page at nbcwatertown.com throughout the day to see if any aces are made!
