AnchorCon 2024

Clayton Rotary's largest fundraiser of the year is AnchorCon and this year's event is Saturday and Sunday, August 17 and 18. Rotary is celebrating year four of bringing this highly entertaining event to audiences of all ages. The name AnchorCon originates from combining the “Anchor,” as in the large anchor at Clayton’s Frink Park. and the “Con” as in ComicCon.

Held at Cerow Recreation Park Arena, this family fun-filled weekend hosts a myriad of celebrities, artists, and performers. Magical things are sure to happen—with over a dozen celebrities, artists, and performers spanning fandoms from television, movies, gaming, streaming, comic books, and anime, AnchorCon will surely have something for everyone! North Country residents, as well as fans from all over upstate New York and beyond, will be treated to meet and greets, photo ops, and Q & A’s with celebrities such as:

Kim Coates: This Canadian-American actor is best known for his role as Alexander “Tig” Trager in the FX series Sons of Anarchy and as Declan Gardiner in the Citytv series Bad Blood, as well as his recurring roles in Prison Break, Cold Case, CSI, and CSI Miami. Kim’s impressive movie background includes roles in  "The Amityville Curse", "Street Legal,” "Dead Silence", "Poltergeist: The Legacy", "Pearl Harbor", "Black Hawk Down" and "Silent Hill"  Kim is currently filming Crossing Lines in Prague with William Fichtner and Donald Sutherland.

Knightmage: Widely International Cosplayer, Entertainer, and Philanthropist who participates in charitable events, benefits, parades, birthdays, and hospital visits to children. Knightmage has worked on several Hollywood comic book movie productions, was an alternate for the 2006 reality show “Who Wants To Be A Superhero” hosted by Stan Lee and has worked on/been featured in several fan films and productions such as the popular YouTube series “MAN AT ARMS: Reforged”. Knightmage has also created various costumes for World Wrestling Entertainment superstars. He is a member of esteemed costuming groups such as “The League of Heroes, The Heroes Alliance-Ohio Branch, East Coast Avengers, Costumers with a Cause and Superheroes to Kids in Ohio, and Heroic Inner Kids.

Jeremy Palko: Jeremy has over 30 acting credits to his name! He is best known for his roles as Andy on The Walking Dead and Nick on Netflix's Bloodline. He can also be seen in The Vampire Diaries, Tyler Perry's Ruthless, Burn Notice, The Middle, Sleepy Hollow, and more!

Orion Acaba: A well-known actor and voiceover artist, best known as Tiberius Stormwind in season one of Critical Role, Apollo Justice in the Ace Attorney series, Crazy Dave from Plants vs. Zombies, and Deadpool, Spiderman, and Master Chief from Halo, from the popular Bat In The Sun series. Orion has voiced numerous characters in over a hundred projects including World of Warcraft, GTA V, Triangle Strategy, Star Wars Old Republic, Fallout 4, Fire Emblem, Tales of Xillia, Final Fantasy, Just Cause 4 as Rico and many others.

Scott Harban: This well-known visual artist has worked as a photographer, director and artist for 30 years. Scott cut his teeth in comics working on the Punisher Max for Marvel Comics and other collaborative projects with his pal Tim Bradstreet. Comics include The Punisher, Sandman, Jennifer Blood, and Hellraiser with Clive Barker. Scott started working with Lucasfilm in 2005 creating images to bolster the marketing and artistic efforts for the original trilogy, prequels and The Clone Wars animated series. He is a guest artist for Lucasfilm and continues creating imagery for the Star Wars franchise.

Gaming: Gaming is returning to our Con with Knights of Thorn providing table gaming. Retro GameCon will be providing video gaming with a Super Smash Bros tournament sponsored by Infinite Lives!

Sunset Cruise: Our Cosplay Sunset Cruise on the St. Lawrence River, presented by Clayton Rotary AnchorCon and Clayton Island Boat Tours will be held on Saturday, August 17. Wear your Cosplay and enjoy mingling with AnchorCon celebrities, Cosplay, Karaoke, Dancing, BINGO, Food, and Cash Bar! This cruise is for ages 21+. The boat will leave at 6:30 pm from the municipal dock in Clayton and will return at 9:30 pm.

 

Floor Displays and Vendors: Also at the AnchorCon you can see the Jurassic Park Jeep, Mike Gibson Comic Creator, Ghostbuster’s ECTO 13-T, WNY’s Turtles, Jeff the Magic Man, Emerald Empire Detachment and The Multiverse Report. Furthermore, there will be over 70 vendors and artists throughout the arena selling fandom products and Con-related merchandise.

Cosplay Contests: AnchorCon will be offering two cosplay contests and we have increased our prize amounts. The adult contest will have three categories on Saturday—Master Builder, Novice, & Walk On. First place for Master Builder is $500.00 and first place for Novice is $300.00. Be sure to sign up for our contest! On Sunday there will be a children's cosplay parade and children's cosplay contest. These are annual favorites for all to enjoy.
