WATERTOWN, NY (8/20/24) - "Young Reflections, An Exploration Reframing Student Image" will be open for public viewing on Thursday, September 26, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Lincoln Loft, 95 Public Square, Watertown, NY 13601.

The free exhibit features ten student artists from three Jefferson County school districts as well as artwork and photography from project coordinator Krystin LaBarge. The event will encourage an open dialogue in the community to reflecti on each of our roles impacting student challenges, mental health, and positive self image using a strength based mindset.

The project spanned several months, during which students met one-on-one with LaBarge to creatively approach how to reframe a struggle into a positive and empowering expression.

"Throughout this project, I've loved working with my fantastic students and watching our expressions develop on each of their canvases," said LaBarge. "We're excited to welcome our families, friends, and community members to this public exhibit that celebrates strengths and differences through art. I encourage our audience to 'look beneath the surface' of the iceberg when reflecting on who we all are, especially the youth in our community."

The Lincoln Loft is an ADA-compliant event venue on the second floor of The Lincoln Building on the north side of Watertown's Public Square. It has entrances on Public Square and The JB Wise Parking lot, which provides free public parking.
