Race Against Poverty Returns to Downtown Watertown

Sep 09, 2024 11:33AM ● By Kenzie Shiver

WATERTOWN – Have you heard? The race is on! The community is buzzing with excitement as the Race  Against Poverty returns on Saturday, September 28, proudly presented by SeaComm.

Race Against Poverty is an exciting opportunity to support the community as participants compete in an  event loosely based on the Amazing Race TV show. Teams of two work together to solve clues leading them  to businesses in and around Public Square where they complete challenges in a race for the finish.

This event is more than just a fun competition – it’s an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives  of our neighbors. All proceeds from the Race Against Poverty go directly to UWNNY’s Community Impact  programs, which provide essential support to individuals and families in Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence  Counties. Last year, programming sponsored by UWNNY impacted over 32,000 individuals across the North  Country – more than half of whom were assisted with basic needs such as food, personal care items, and  transportation. This impact is only possible thanks to the generosity of the local communities we serve, and  fundraisers such as the Race Against Poverty.

After the race, join us at 210 Court St. for the after-party, featuring food, music, raffle/silent auction, and the  chance to share your race experiences with fellow participants. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the day’s  achievements and unwind after the excitement!

Tickets are on sale now! Don’t miss out on this chance to enjoy a day of fun and philanthropy – with a little  healthy competition mixed in – all for a great cause. Tickets are priced at $60 per team of two, which includes  race registration, event shirts for both participants, and access to the after-party.
