Jolene He is an 8th grader at General Brown Jr. Sr. High School. Jolene has spent her entire summer crocheting animals (amigurumi) to raise money for the Jefferson County SPCA.
Each animal is handmade by Jolene and was sold at various events, including the Dry Hill Sunday Market, the Thousand Island Arts and Crafts Festival, and AYSO Ontario soccer games.
With the support from the market hosts, her wonderful customers, school teachers and friends. By the end of the summer, Jolene was able to raise a total of $400, in which she donated to the SPCA.
Jolene writes, "I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful cause, and I plan to continue crocheting. My next goal is to donate handmade items to children in hospitals."
