WATERTOWN, NY ----- The Figure Skating Club of Watertown brought home 18 medals this weekend, seven gold, seven silver, and four bronze, while competing in the Empire State Winter Games in Lake Placid, NY.
“Our skaters train year round and we’re so proud of their work ethic and performance this past weekend,” said a representative from the FSC of Watertown Board of Directors. “It was an amazing event with a lot of great competition, and we were thrilled to see so many of our skaters up on the podium.”
Skaters who medaled at ESWG, the largest Olympic-style winter sports event in the Northeast, earned a spot to compete in the State Games of America, which will host athletes from across the nation in Pennsylvania next year.
The club returns home this week to prepare to compete in, and host, the 13th Annual Snow Town Invitational February 14 through the 16 at the Watertown Municipal Arena. A US Figure Skating sanctioned and Excel Series event, the Snow Town Invitational will draw over 150 skaters from around New York and other states, from neighboring Massachusetts to Florida.
The FSC of Watertown is a non-profit dedicated to providing opportunities for participation and achievement in figure skating and boasts professional US Figure Skating and Learn to Skate certified, award-winning coaches, who provide instruction for all levels and ages of skaters, from private lessons to introductory group classes.
