(WATERTOWN, NY) – School’s almost out and summer is heating up! If you're looking for engaging and fun activities for kids and teens, look no further than the Youth Services events happening this June at Flower Memorial Library. With something for every age and interest—from reading challenges and art projects to music, games, and history—this is the place to be all month long!
📚 Children’s & Teens’ Summer Reading Programs Begin!
Start: June 2 at 9 a.m. | Ages 0-18
Read your way to prizes! For every hour read, earn an entry into our prize drawings. Track your hours using fun reading trackers available at the Circulation Desk (ages 0-12) or online (ages 12-18). Prizes include gift cards, LEGO sets, Beats Headphones, and more!
📖 Farmers Market Story Time
Wednesdays, June 4, 11, 18, 25 at 10:30 a.m. | All Ages & Abilities
Join Mrs. Jamie on the lawn for an outdoor story time packed with stories, songs, and silliness! (Rainy day? No problem—it moves indoors.)
🎨 Art Club
June 6 at 4 p.m. | Ages 6–12
Get creative with local artist Shalaina Thompson in this hands-on art session. Themes revealed at the event!
🎮 Open Gaming
Fridays, June 6, 20, 27 at 4 p.m. | Ages 12–17
Kick off the weekend with gaming fun in the Teen Space—try your hand at Switch, Wii, PC, or board games (and don’t miss the snacks!).
✂️ Children’s Take & Make Crafts
June 7 at 9 a.m. | Ages 3–12
Grab a craft kit to celebrate Dad with a custom Father’s Day Can Cooler—make it at home or right here at the library!
🎵 Music & Movement with Sarah Wolfe
June 9 at 10:30 a.m. | Ages 0–5
Sing, dance, and jam with Sarah Wolfe in this lively, interactive music session—complete with ukulele tunes!
🐉 Dragon Egg Painting
June 10 at 6 p.m. | Ages 3–12
Kick off summer reading with a magical painting project! Supplies provided; first 50 participants only—eggs must be painted onsite.
📚 Teen Snack & Craft: DIY Mini Library
June 11 at 6 p.m. | Ages 12–17
Create your very own mini library, complete with shelves and tiny books! Snacks and supplies included. Limit 10—first come, first served!
🧱 LEGO Club
June 12 at 4 p.m. | All Ages & Abilities
Come build your imagination at LEGO Club! Theme announced at the event. All Legos provided.
🖼️ Hungerford Family Art Exhibit Opening Ceremony
June 13 at 3:30 p.m. | All Ages & Abilities
Explore North Country history with the Hungerford family’s story, comic art, and heirlooms. Light refreshments provided. Exhibit runs through August 8.
🖌️ Tiny Art
June 14 at 10 a.m. | Ages 12–17
Think small—create big! Paint or draw on a 4"x4" canvas. Limit 15—first come, first served.
📚 Book Display Brigade
June 26 at 4 p.m. | Ages 12–17
Want volunteer hours? Help design book displays in the Teen Space and earn credit for your creativity!
🎨 Toddler Painting: Ice Cream Cones
June 27 at 10:30 a.m. | Ages 0–5
Sponge paint your own paper ice cream cone in this fun process painting activity.
🔤 Book Character Bingo
June 28 at 10 a.m. | All Ages
Join us for a lively round of Bingo—but with book characters instead of numbers! Can you recognize them all?
All events are free and open to all abilities. Teens still in high school and aged 18 are welcome at teen events.
