OGC Tournament 2025

Carlowden Country Club | Carthage, NY – Friday, June 13, 2025

The 3rd Annual OGC Military Appreciation Golf Tournament, held at Carlowden Country Club, brought together community members, veterans, golfers, and local sponsors for a full day of celebration, remembrance, and giving back. What started as a local tournament has grown into a defining summer tradition in the North Country — all in support of Wounded Warrior Outdoor Adventures (WWOA).

From the moment participants arrived, they were greeted with a sight to behold: American flags lined the driveway, and a personal welcome from NBC Watertown set the tone for the day. Golfers checked in and received gift bags that included a quarter-zip shirt, custom OGC hat from dbowhall.com, and ball marker, a warm gesture that reflected the tournament’s appreciation for its participants.

The Opening Ceremonies set a heartfelt tone for the day, blending patriotism with deep appreciation. After a continental breakfast and a stirring performance by the 10th Mountain Division Band, the crowd gathered to hear from several special guests.

Mark Gaines, General Manager of NBC Watertown, spoke about the importance of community and expressed sincere gratitude to all who have served in the armed forces. Louis Wall, President & CEO of SagamoreHill Broadcasting, reflected on the strength and spirit of the North Country, emphasizing how proud he is to be a part of such a supportive and patriotic region.

Bob Giordano, a representative of Wounded Warrior Outdoor Adventures, moved the audience with personal stories about fellow Wounded Warriors and the real-life challenges they face after deployment. His words served as a powerful reminder of the purpose behind the tournament.

The Carthage High School JROTC presented the colors with pride and precision, honoring the flag and what it represents. This was followed by a stirring vocal performance of the National Anthem by Jessica Bowline, and an invocation delivered by Father Sam Lundy. Matt Russell, Golf Pro at Carlowden, then provided an overview of the tournament rules and expectations, officially kicking off the day’s events.

With spirits high, the teams teed off for a full day of competitive fun. As players made their way across the course, they were treated to lunch provided by Ken from Performance Foodservice, with additional hot food and refreshments available at various holes.

The golf itself was memorable, but the mission behind the tournament remained central — honoring and supporting veterans through Wounded Warrior Outdoor Adventures.

As the final putts dropped, the celebration continued with the Closing Ceremonies and Raffle Drawings. One highlight was a grill giveaway to a military member, generously donated by Americu Credit Union.

In a heartwarming show of support, several raffle winners chose to donate their prizes back to WWOA — a true testament to the community spirit of the day.
