Samaritan Medical Center is proud to announce the return of local neurosurgical care with the official opening of Samaritan Neurosurgery, now accepting patients at 826 Washington Street, Medical Office Building, 3rd Floor, Watertown, NY 13601.

This exciting development marks a significant step forward in specialized care for the North Country, bringing expert neurosurgery services back to the community and eliminating the need for patients to travel long distances for treatment.

Leading the new practice is Dr. Stephanie Zyck, a highly skilled and board-eligible neurosurgeon. Dr. Zyck brings a wealth of advanced training and clinical experience in treating disorders of the nervous system, including conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. Her expertise includes the treatment of brain tumors, spinal disorders, neurotrauma, and vascular abnormalities. She is joined by Caitlin Winkler, PA, a certified physician assistant, who will support patient care through clinical evaluations, surgical coordination, and post-operative follow-ups.

Dr. Zyck earned her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University and completed a rigorous neurosurgery residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University. She further pursued advanced fellowship training in endovascular neurosurgery, neurotrauma, and neurocritical care, and is currently working toward board certification with the American Board of Neurological Surgery.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Zyck to our medical staff and reintroduce neurosurgical services at Samaritan,” said Dr. Mario Victoria, Vice President for Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer at Samaritan. “Her extensive training and commitment to excellence will be a tremendous asset to our patients and our community.”

Dr. Zyck expressed her excitement about the opportunity:

“I’m honored to be launching a new neurosurgical practice that brings much-needed, high-quality care to our community. Our goal is to deliver comprehensive neurosurgical services—from emergency consultations and peri-operative care to ongoing follow-up care in the office setting. I’m excited to collaborate closely with referring providers and am now accepting new patient referrals.”

With the opening of Samaritan Neurosurgery, residents across the region now have access to advanced neurosurgical expertise close to home—ensuring faster, more coordinated care, and improved outcomes.
