Lewis County Organizations Receive $51,900 in Historic Preservation Grants

Watertown, NY — October 8, 2025 — The Northern New York Community Foundation has awarded $51,900 in the first round of grants from the Lewis County Historic Preservation Fund to support three local restoration projects.

Grant Recipients

  • Constable Hall Association (Constableville) – $24,500 to restore and repurpose the Servants Quarters into a public exhibit showcasing “Every Day Working Life” in Lewis County.

  • Adirondack Mennonite Heritage Association – $20,000 to repair porches on the historic farmhouse at the John Moser Homestead, improving safety and preserving its original character.

  • Society for the Preservation of West Martinsburg Church – $7,400 to stabilize the fieldstone foundation and replace the walkway for safe public access.

“These projects help preserve meaningful pieces of our past,” said Rande S. Richardson, NNYCF Executive Director. “We’re proud to support efforts that keep local history alive for future generations.”

Second Round of Funding Open

A second round of grants — totaling $48,100 — is now available for Lewis County nonprofits and churches undertaking exterior historic preservation work. Applications are due by 11:59 PM, Friday, November 7, 2025, through the Foundation’s online portal.

Eligible applicants must be located entirely within Lewis County, and projects may not begin before December 31, 2025.
