High School Basketball Recap #1 - Week of 12/1
Dec 08, 2025 03:18PM ● By Connor La LoneThe 2025-26 High School Athletics Winter Session is in full swing now, which means the Streamteam is back in action with live basketball!
We started our season close to home in Brownville, where the Lady Lions hosted a section X foe, the Canton Golden Bears. Although the final score would lead you to believe this game was a cakewalk for the Lions, Canton made it a game in the third quarter, and forced General Brown to use their experience in the fourth. Leah Ferris was a force for General Brown as usual, with 22 points, while senior guard Mollie Peckham added 12 and sophomore Addy Secreti chipped in with 11. Canton’s comeback was sparked by three threes from Lily Todd and a tremendous effort on the glass from Tessa Alguire.
Final Score: General Brown 54 - 35 Canton

The next night we were in Beaver Falls for another girls contest, as the Cyclones travelled into Lewis County to do battle. In similar fashion to the night before, the team with more experience was able to find a way to win, albeit by a smaller margin. Beaver River, lead by an outrageous game on the glass by Reese Lehman and a strong scoring performance for Ella St. Croix were able to narrowly defeat Leah Charlton’s Watertown. Charlton missed part of the first half due to an ankle injury and Mya Brown stepped up in her absence, picking up a double double (10 points, 11 rebounds). Ella Bowman and Ella Beaudoin added 8 and 6, respectively.
Final Score: Beaver River 40 - 36 Watertown

Our third and final game of the week was back in Brownville, as the Lions hosted the Beaver River Beavers in our first boys’ matchup of the year. There was plenty of athleticism on display, with several familiar names from football season taking the court. Beaver River were plagued by a rough second quarter in which they were outscored 27-3! Luke Dupee took over the game and finished with 20 points, while Matt Moore put up 14 to lead the Beavers despite sitting in the second quarter due to foul trouble. The Lions were unconscious from beyond the arc, and Brady Black added three 3’s, while Dawson Foley and Jackson Ward also connected from deep. Karter Kloster had 5 assists and Malachi Brandt added 7 boards in the losing effort.
Final Score: General Brown 63 - 47 Beaver River
