Jan 26, 2026 10:58AM ● By Kenzie Shiver

Watertown, NY – January 26th marks Community Managers Day, a time to recognize the individuals who go above and beyond to strengthen the towns and cities we call home. From organizing local events to uplifting neighbors and championing small business, community managers play a vital role in keeping our communities connected, informed, and supported.

Across the North Country, community managers are behind-the-scenes leaders who help bring people together. They celebrate local pride, amplify the important causes, and ensure that no milestone or meaningful moment goes unnoticed. Their work creates lasting connections – and their impact is felt every day.

Here at NBC Watertown, Community Managers Day gives us the perfect opportunity to recognize our own General Manager, Mark Gaines, and the incredible dedication he brings to serving our community.

Mark’s commitment to the North Country extends far beyond the walls of our station. He is a familiar face at local events, a passionate supporter of hometown initiatives, and a strong advocate for recognizing the people who make our region special. Through Hometown Heroes, Mark helps honor everyday individuals whose service and selflessness deserve the spotlight. Through Teacher Appreciation, he ensures educators receive the recognition they have earned for shaping future generations.

Mark is also deeply involved in honoring those who serve our country through the Old Glory Classic, recognizing military members and veterans for their sacrifices and contributions. His leadership reflects a genuine appreciation for service, dedication, and community spirit.

In addition, Mark is a consistent supporter of local businesses, frequently partnering with and sponsoring events that help small businesses thrive right where they are rooted. By showing up, lending support, and helping amplify their stories, he reinforces NBC Watertown’s commitment to keeping local strong.

On Community Managers Day, we proudly celebrate all community managers across our area – those who dedicate their time, energy, and passion to making a difference. And today, we extend a special thank-you to Mark Gaines for leading by example and continually finding meaningful ways to give back to the community we are honored to serve.

From all of us at NBC Watertown: thank you for helping our community shine – today and every day.
