Feb 05, 2026 12:00PM ● By Kenzie Shiver

Watertown city leaders and community health advocates will come together on Friday, February 6th, 2026, to recognize National Wear Red Day, a nationwide effort to raise awareness about heart disease in women.

This will take place at 10:00 a.m. at Watertown City Hall, located at 245 Washington Street, officially marking the day and encouraging residents to wear red in support of women’s heart health.

Heart disease remains the No. 1 killer of women in the United States, yet many women are unaware of their personal risk. National Wear Red Day serves as an important reminder for women to prioritize heart health, learn the warning signs, and take proactive steps towards prevention.

This will be led by Watertown Mayor Sarah Compo Pierce, alongside Stacy Spaziani, Regional Director of the American Heart Association, and Kelly Newman Burnham, a heart disease survivor who will share her personal experience to highlight the importance of awareness and early action.

Organizers encourage the community to be a relentless force for women’s health by wearing red on Friday and starting conversations about heart disease prevention, healthy lifestyles, and regular checkups.

Residents are invited to attend and show their support by wearing red throughout the day to stand with women across the North Country and beyond.
