Watertown, NY – March marks Women’s History Month, and NBC Watertown is proud to take part in the annual “Her Story” campaign in recognition of Women’s History Month – a nationwide celebration dedicated to honoring the achievements, resilience, and impact of women across industries and communities.
The multi-platform initiative known as #HerStoryNBCU, shines a spotlight on women’s voices and experiences through storytelling across NBCUniversal’s news, entertainment, and digital platforms. The campaign is designed not only to celebrate accomplishments, but also to inspire progress and foster meaningful conversations about opportunity, equity, and representation.
Throughout the month, NBC and Telemundo stations will produce special segments highlighting trailblazing women in their local communities. These stories often feature entrepreneurs, educators, healthcare professionals, military leaders, artists, and community advocates whose work is shaping the future.
In recent years, the campaign has embraced evolving themes that reflect broader conversations about gender equality and empowerment. In 2023, the focus centered on “Build, Empower, Uplift,” emphasizing collective support and advancement. In 2024, the theme shifted to “Invest, Intersect, Inspire,” underscoring the importance of investing in women’s potential, recognizing intersectional experiences, and inspiring future generations.
The initiative also serves as a company wide effort within NBCUniversal to foster an inclusive workplace culture and recognize the contributions of women across its portfolio brands.
Here in the North Country, Women’s History Month provides an opportunity to reflect on the women who make a difference locally – from business leaders and nonprofit organizers to service members connected to Fort Drum and beyond.
NBC Watertown will join the nationwide effort by highlighting stories throughout the month that celebrate women’s achievements and contributions within our community.
Women’s History Month traces its roots back to local celebration in California in the late 1970s before becoming a nationally recognized observance. Today, it continues to evolve as a time to reflect on progress made on gender equality.
Through storytelling and community engagement, NBCUniversal’s “Women’s HerStory” campaign aims to amplify voices, build connections, and inspire change – locally and nationally.
NBC Watertown encourages viewers to follow along throughout March as we share stories that honor the women shaping the North Country and beyond.
