On July 21-24, 2026, and September 1-4, 2026, Watertown Fire Department
members are conducting training at a city owned house in the 300 block of Flower
Ave, East. The training is being provided by the New York State Office of Fire
Prevention and Control Technical Rescue Division. The class being taught
currently is “Medium Structural Collapse Operations: Interior Shoring” and is only
one class in the Structural Collapse series that the department is completing over
the past months and upcoming year. This class trains us on how to shore up the
interior of a building that has collapsed so that we may operate safely to conduct
any rescue or recovery operations. Watertown Fire Department is becoming
accredited in several Technical Rescue disciplines and is one of several
municipalities that will make up the NYS response team.
