Beaver River Picks up First Win of Season with Dominant Display

           The Beaver River Beavers, coached by Matt Lyndaker, defeated Class D Rival Mount Markham by a score of 56-6 on Friday night. The NBC Watertown StreamTeam was on hand to broadcast the contest. 

We had the fortune of getting to watch a very talented and athletic Beaver River team this past Friday (9/4/26). My usual commentary partner Ron Rockwood assumes public address responsibilities for the Beavers and thus, Zach Zubrzycki assisted myself on the mic. Morgan Young and James Stump were both operating cameras, and all 4 of us managed to get absolutely drenched by a surprise rain storm. 

Unfortunately, as the rain rolled in and dumped on us, the outdoor outlet we (and the on field clock) were using to supply power to all necessary equipment stopped functioning. This left us absolutely scrambling just after kick-off, and meant we missed the first two touchdowns of the game. Beavers quarterback Lane Kloster connected with Kayne Lyndaker early in the first quarter, and Alex Kloster rushed one in from a yard out before Lane Kloster did the same in the first few minutes of the second quarter. 

While this was going on, we were scrambling to cover our equipment, using garbage bags to cover our cameras, computer and audio mixer. While we were able to protect everything, we couldn't power anything. We can't thank the staff from Beaver River enough for all their help, bringing us a dozen or so towels, extension cords, and tape to make sure we could get back on the air as soon as possible. 

The broadcast got back live with about 8 minute remaining in the second quarter, and any thoughts that we had missed the excitement were quickly dispelled when Kayne Lyndaker received another pass from Kloster and took this one to the house from 48 yards out. Lyndaker would add two more touchdowns, Jack Stevens rushed for a score, and Mount Markham connected on a 59 yard homerun ball from their quarterback Asher Pasquale. 

Beaver River won by a score of 56-6, one of (if not the biggest) margins of victory we have seen here at NBC Watertown. It was an impressive display of athleticism from both Klosters and Lyndaker, and equally dominant from the Beaver defense. Jack Stevens had 10(!) tackles, and Alex Kloster, Colton Kloster, Henry Roes, Ryan Pellam, Nate Fort, and Carter Eaton all had 3 or more tackles on the night. 

The next game for the StreamTeam is Friday 9/11, as General Brown travels to Lowville for a Frontier League matchup. That game will be streamed on YouTube as always, but also broadcasted on NBC Watertown (WVNC).
